Colors play a great role in our daily life.  Colors are present everywhere in the form of rays and radiations.  The seven colors of solar spectrum were known to Indians from times immemorial.  The seven horses of Lord Sun's chariot, the Haritas, represent seven colors of solar spectrum.  Sun is sometimes called 'Saptasapti' or 'Saptarashmi'.  These seven rays are the prime cause behind the rains falling on the mother earth.

RED- Warmth, Authority

Planet Sun & Mars rule Red Colour. Red symbolizes Passion , warmth of fire , Sensations, desires, Feelings,Power& Authority. People preferring red colour are large Hearted, generous, magnanimous and noble; having all the qualities of sun. Fine, clear rose pink is representative of pure and unselfish affection. Red colour gives boldness, drive, endurance and frankness. A person having great liking for red leads an adventurous life. During winter months, red colour is very useful as it keeps the body hot. Open the doors and ventilators in the south direction of your house in the winter season. It will naturally admit a lot of red colour in the house. Though red colour is useful in healing wounds but is dangerous for a mad or insane person. For idiots, imbeciles and persons suffering from inferiority complex, red colour is a boon. It makes dull, lazy, and lethargic persons active. Excess of red colour may cause boils, itching, insomnia (in summers), high blood pressure and the like. Using cold colours like violet, Indigo and blue can cure these problems.

ORANGE- Aspirations, Sociability

Orange people are slightly more reserved than red, being good-natured & likable, rather than passionate.It is colour of Kamadeva , the god of desires and marriage . Orange dresses are preferred during marriage ceremonies . Married ladies use vermilion ( orange - red ) on their forehead . Orange creates some of the excitement of red , but is softened by the yellow . Moon governs childhood years and is responsible for all child mortality . Its colour orange is regarded as an energy drink . Persons swayed by orange are intelligent , good tempered , self sufficient , forbearing and kind . Orange is a very unstable colour and so people influenced by it must refrain from any speculation and gambling . It denotes great activities and a very changeful life . Deficiency of orange colour in the living area gives diseases like cough and cold , fevers , mental debility , uterine troubles , insanity , cessation of menstruation in females , bronchitis , gall stones etc. Use orange colour to avoid all these diseases . Orange is energizing when bright , and cheering when light . In the home , orange is not preferred in its pure form . Violet : Spirituality , Mysticism

Violet is a mixture of two primary colours , red and blue , with greater proportion of red . Planet Saturn - the planet of steadfastness .combination of neighboring colours . Thus orange is a combination of Red and Yello while Green is a combination of Yellow and Blue . Both Indigo and Violet colours are the combination of Blue and Red colours . Indigo has larger proportion of Blue , while Violet has larger proportion of Red . White coloux is a mixture of all the seven colours in equal proportion . Black colour is not a colour but is absence of all the colours . Thousands of colour combinations are possible by mixing these seven colours , white and black in varying proportions . Seven visible colours of the solar spectrum are useful in our daily activities Every colour has its peculiar planet , element temperature , sense , day , muhoorta , direction body , dosha and the like . These colours are very useful in suggesting vaastu remedies according to the requirements of a particular person or family . Invisible solar radiations , such as ultraviolet and infrared rays , are governed by Rahu and Ketu respectively . These planets are without any physical body and are just mathematical points . They rule southwest direction which is the entry point of extremely harmful infrared rays . In Indian mythology ,Rahu has been called a ' Sarpa ' or a poisonous snake . Afternoon time solar rays - malevolent in nature - are harmful like a poisonous snake Rahu and Ketu do not have any optical or magnetic influence . They behave in an absurd , inconstant , indefinite manner which is beyond the judgement power of a normal human being . Southwest is thus kept closed , higher and heavy . 

Yellow : Courage , Intellectuality 

Yellow , the colour of fire with its quality of heat , is ruled by Mars and Jupiter . Mars is commander - in - chief of the celestial army . Jupiter rules gold , the yellow metal . Yellow colour maintains thermal equilibrium of the human body . It denotes intellectuality and the scientific mind that overcomes ignorance . The mystics use turmeric yellow to disperse evil by writing signs of Swastika ,Aum and the like . Yellow makes children active , energetic and creative . This is a good colour choice in the study room of a dull and lethargic child . Yellow colour represents ripe fruits , vegetables and corn . Thus , yellow colour is directly related with money , materials and material prosperity . Being the colour of benevolent Jupiter , it removes poverty and adversity . It is the colour of sunshine , youth , gladness and merriment . When used as a wall colour , yellow makes sunless rooms bright and cheery . It is also a good colour to paint the kitchen , as it tends to act as a laxative to bowel and calm the nerves . Golden yellow , a symbol of the sun , signifies power and goodness of God . On the other hand , dull yellow speaks of treachery , cowardice , prejudice and destructive domination . Yellow rules third chakra in the human body ie Solar Plexus . Solar plexus is called sun centre or power centre of the human body , which needs to stay in perfect equilibrium . Yellow acts as a great equalizer . Green is represented by the planet Mercury, young prince of celestial kingdom .lt represents earth element having quality of smell.  It lies right in the middle of the cox spectrum as well as the number chart with number 5 assigned to Mercury.  In Astrology too, Mercury is considered a neutral planet and gives results of the planet influencing it Mercury's color green is a very changeable color.  Green is the color of spring time, hope, nature, new born life, restlessness, and youthfulness.  People preferring green color hate to grow old.  They are brisk and very quick in their activities.  Green color produces a clever nature, commercial ability and convincing speaker with an aptitude to speculate and gamble.  Scarcity of green color causes mental illness, hysteria and nervous debility.  Mad or insane persons thrive better green surroundings such as green painted rooms, green bed sheets and green curtains.  green mosquito nets give sound and peaceful sleep.  Green is restful and peaceful, provides feeling of harmoney and tranquility.  It becomes a good color for any room used for relaxation and sleep . Blue : Vastness , Peace 

Jupiter rules blue colour . In Astrology , Jupiter is great teacher of the gods . It is the colour of boundless sky and oceans and thus represents growth . It is the colourchastity , loyalty , peace and tranquility and is very useful in bedrooms for enjoying a quick and sound sleep . It is the most preferred colour in hot areas as it can calm heat , anger , and passion . Light blue is under the control of Jupiter and is origin of the ether element with its quality of sound . Scarcity of blue colour may cause deafness and other ear diseases . Blue colour..........soothe the frayed nerves and excited  pampers of an insane or mad man . Paint the walls of your bedroom in blue colour for enjoying sound sleep in summers .Blue  coloured bedrooms seem colder in winters and need extra heating for enjoying a good sleep . Blue is the colour of religion and peace , tranquil and inward looking . It is the colour of Sikh religion . Light blue is a good choice for a prayer or meditation room . Darker blues such as indigo , aid in spiritual and intuition powers . Blue colour is related to the water . Different shades of blue colour are very effective in bathroom and toilet .

Indigo: Harmony, Beauty 

Indigo is a mixture of two primary colors ie, red and blue.  It is a secondary color with higher proportion of blue and lesser of red.  Venus - the representative planet of beauty, charm, joyfulness, relationships and merriment - rules indigo.  Venus (shukra) - well versed in the art of giving life to the dead - was the teacher of daityas.  It is man's semen, which gives birth to a new child.  Deficiency of this color may cause diseases of impotency and sterility, diseases of private parts, venereal diseases, problems of generative organs, uterine troubles, diseased sperms, syphilis, spermatorrhoea etc.  To be free from all these diseases, indigo color should be used in the scattered form.  Include this color in your life in the form of bed sheets, towels, garments, cushion covers, stationary and other articles of daily usage.  Avoid painting walls in this color.  For diabetic persons, indigo and blue colored rays have a nectar like effect.  Indigo is useful in diseases due to drunkenness, hernia, hydrocele, leucorrhoea, idleness, emaciation, aversion to food and premature old age.  Person fearing women should  use this colour in higher quantity.
